Update on Ghosts -- Edition 4, Group 3

Hello to all of you in Group 3 -- after a couple of false starts, I finally managed to ship off your copies of "Ghosts" today.  I won't spoil the surprise by saying too much about it, but once you have all received your copies, I'll post more photos and info.

"DUST" (Edition 4, group 4)

I've been worrying about global postal services, but now finally my book DUST has found its way to all members of Edition 4 group 4. Time to post about it here.

Edition of 24. All text is handset and letterpress printed on my Korrex proof press. Printed on Nepalese handmade paper, cotton dust cloth, and a vacuum cleaner bag. The book contains some 30 quotations from world literature, a six-page poem by myself, and some photos.
If I were to make a statement about this piece of work, I’d say I wanted to show some connections between our daily interaction with dust, the way we experience both the beauty and the ugliness of our reality, and our sense of transience.

More pics can be seen here (slideshow on Flickr).

Cheers, B.

Sorry: Should have said—Volume 4, Group 7—re the previous post.
Having just read about yet another person shooting into a crowd of people (a temple in the USA) I find Rhonda Miller's piece, Solzhenitzyn, most timely (unfortunately). It arrived yesterday, meticulously packaged and beautifully made. I spent many hours with glue and paper in the last few days so I'm especially impressed with five layers showing no evidence of sticky fingers anywhere.

The next time I give the talk on this project is mid-October. Anyone else almost ready to send them out? I'll be showing whatever I have along with my own. The ones I've shown so far, at the talk or in class, have created great excitement.

another book gets out

"Transparent" for Group 4

My little contribution "Transparent" has been completed and as winging its way across the world to the Group 4 members mainly in USA and UK with a couple in Australia.  Can't wait to see some of the other books from my colleagues as they finish ! I'll post more info and photos once they've had a chance to have a good look first.

The Missing Typewriter Key - Posted (in the real world)

"The Missing Typewriter Key"
Spread myself around the post office
today and sent off all my little
(Lucky I emptied out the piggy bank before I left!)
So Ronnie, Kalmia, Angela, Meg, Barbara, Rebecca and Sara
should all be receiving a little parcel shortly.
Hope they they are not too travel weary when they arrive.
And lucky me - I'm the 400th online BAO Post :)
