Woe unto Blogger

Short technical rant: thanks to the new updated Blogger interface I can no longer see Blogger properly in my internet browser and NO THANK YOU I don't want to install Google Chrome!  It's got me thinking - again - about changing platforms and moving the blog onto something else, such as Wordpress.  Any comments?  As it is I'm writing this on my husband's laptop because he has Mozilla Firefox installed, which is much more compatible with the new Blogger interface than IE9...  Is anyone else having problems?

nope - no hassles this end (and I have the worst copper phone lines in the history of all time)

the hassle is with IE - this was raised a while ago with other BAO peeps... maybe we can put a 'something' on our site that says 'best viewed in firefox' (+ other platforms that work well with consistency) .... ????? what browsers to other BAO folk use?

Hi! from south London!
Sara, I almost always have problems with Blogger these days!
As you know, I moved (most of) my blogwork to Wordpress a few years ago and am happy with that platform.
I'll email with further thoughts-just off to meet niece!

I was about to email Sara re: IE. It has for years been problematic and could be fixed!
I use Chrome and am OK.I did have (and liked ) Firefox, but it crashed once too often.

I hate to say it.... but I will (and no doubt incur the wrath of everyone.....) ummmmm I have a mac.... so I have no hassles ever...

as in NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER (including icky little viruses and worms and what-nots..... no crashes.... no dramas... no headaches....) I know there are heaps of folk who can't stand it when we mac folk state this .... but its just my reality. sorry. don't hate me.

I decided that I loathed the new blogger interface (who did they ask before improving it?). So I have reverted to the old interface. On the right of the screen there is an icon which looks like a gear which, if clicked upon, will offer the choice of reverting to the more user friendly interface. For now.

I have no hassles viewing blogger but I have firefox and a mac (I am with you on this Ronnie).

I have just registered my own domain as I am in the process of setting up a website for my business in Iceland and am using WordPress for this. I am struggling a little with it as I don't feel their dashboard is as logical or as intuitive as blogger but I am sure I will get the hang of it in time.

I have been using Firefox for years and never missed IE. There are just too many issues with Explorer. Blogger problems apart (I don't have any) I do recommend you download Mozilla. I think you'll love it.

I use Firefox and I don't have any problems. Mind you, I also hate the new blogger interface and like Elephant's Child I have stuck with the old one. (I also have a lot of issues with IE and refuse to use it.)

I tried to move to Wordpress a couple of years ago and gave up - it just seemed too hard. I know people think it's great and all, but I really like things to work intuitively and not to have to keep diving into help.

I put my last two posts up with great difficulty in the new blogger - couldn't see half of what I was doing. Thank you Elesphant's child for telling me how to revert to the old one. I'd be happy with that, for the time being anyway.

Not a problem on Safari / Mac! I moved across to safari even before I got a MacBook as I was fed up with IE issues. I don't think you need to change your blog platform (which can be one almighty hassle in itself), just your browser software which you've already proved by using Firefox successfully.

For what it's worth, I too am on a Mac and haven't had any issues. I have mozilla firefox and I don't like the dynamic view format either and have stuck to the simple version.

I have Google Chrome so no probs here. I don't mind if thats really what you want to do, although all my other blogs are blogger blogs and wordpress would be yet another thing to log into.... lol. but thats just me!

IE is notorious for causing problems on all kinds of websites. I'm using Safari on a Mac, and so far it seems to still be ok.

I had a Blogger blog and moved it to WordPress about a year ago. It was a nightmare! It's not intuitive and is a steep learning curve. It seems like everything that was a simple button click or two on Blogger turns into a frustrating, hours-long (or more) ordeal of searching forums and begging for help in WordPress. Now that I've invested the time, there are things I do like better with it, but it was not a simple thing to switch. I shed more than a few tears over it, I hate to admit. WordPress is not easy for people who are used to Blogger. I'd previously built a website using Dreamweaver and had a little bit of backend website experience , but still found it extremely difficult.

That said, I do find Google's increasing push to make everything Google quite annoying, to say the least. (Telling you to install Chrome! Geez!) And it is frustrating not to be able to use your preferred browser, no matter what it is. IE might have its problems, but a lot of people do use it. With all its resources, I'm sure Google could better program the Blogger platform to work with IE, rather than tell everyone to install Chrome.
